Situated at the top of the hill with its own car park at the rear. There is a small bar with separate games room at the back. The front is an off license and a large split level bar/dining area, carpeted and comfortable. This becomes Moneypenny's Nightclub later. To one side is a small split level restaurant beside the stairs leading to the upper floor. Upstairs is another restaurant, both are decorated in a medieval style. A door leads into the hotel rooms.
Cullen's
TandrageeSituated on the corner of the main Gilford road. Dark yet comfortable split level front lounge with real fire, large tile floor and open brick work. The back bar is neat with half height wood panelling and old wine/beer casks. Music at weekends. Look out for the old pharmacy penny scales and cabinet of old woodwork tools. It has the James Joyce Award plaque on being an authentic Irish pub.
Castle Tavern
TandrageeTypical old fashioned street pub, halfway up the hill. The public bar has a pool table and games machines. The side lounge is in a time warp with 60's style lamps, copper facing to the fire (electric) and metallic tiles. The ceiling has a vaulted effect. The seating is comfortable and the staff friendly. There is a seldom used and surprisingly large and comfortable back lounge. There is a mixed age clientele.
The Lurgan Oriental
41 High Street, Lurgan, BT66 8AH(028) 3832 4088 (T)
Helen & Louis, best known from Belfast's "Summer Palace" have opened up a bigger establishment. The menu contains many of the old favourites. Although two floors, this place gets busy and there is always lots of the typical Chinese frenetic coming and going. Good food but book early
